I have LOVED Ritual and this painting process. It has been so interesting and powerful to watch my inner life shift and evolve over the moons and to see this mirrored in the painting and vice versa. Here is a poem that shares the story.

The Gaze

In the sacred meadow where mountain meets ocean
A portal opens to love

Flowers whisper under the trees
Mushrooms twirl in anticipation
Branches stretch to get a better view
Ancestors gather to hold the energy

All is prepared for the gaze

She steps forward breathing through her feet
Her roots have grown with her confidence
Feeling safe in herself, she carries the red flames of transformation
And the inner riches found buried in a mysterious cave
She revels in this discovery

She is prepared for the gaze

Her wild twin stepped forward moons ago
Strong and passionate, embodied and powerful, he has eyes only for her
Unconcerned with the wait, unattached to outcome, he knew she’d come
In her own time, in her own way, in her own rhythm
He holds the space for her becoming

He is prepared for the gaze

The Earth guardian emerges from Piscean depths
She opened the portal that drew the twins together,
Creating the possibility of their self-discovery, self-healing
Her ancient wisdom leads the way, and now, with a smile,
She gives the signal for the ritual to begin

Owls descend
Serpents rise
Flowers and trees sing blessings
The full moon blows a kiss

In the joy of the meadow, the twins gaze at each other
In love, in recognition, in devotion
What once was unknown is now known
What once was hidden is now revealed
This gaze of self-love activates a new story that will change everything
